The organized unit of the First United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
UMW meets the first Tuesday of the month at 12:00 p.m. for a lunch provided for a small fee of $4.00. There is a brief business meeting followed by a program.
There are 2 circles (groups). Esther Circle meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month in Perry Hall at 1:00 p.m. Sunshine Circle meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month in Perry Hall starting at 9:00 a.m.
United Methodist Men (UMM)
The United Methodist Men consists of approximately 45 men who enjoy fellowship with other Christian men. The fellowship consists of monthly breakfast meetings, working together at fundraisers and attending special programs such as the father/son cookout. Some of the fundraisers include a chili supper, squirrel corn sale, pancake breakfasts, a bowl-a-thon and golf outing/pork chop dinner.
In addition, we help with many church projects and have a “help” network to benefit our elderly or other congregation members with special projects.

Bykota
The name Bykota comes from the first letters of the words “Be Yea Kind One to Another” Ephesians 4:32. A former member Mrs. Milo Vondracek, whose husband was our Pastor for several years prior to 1953, suggested the name.
The group was originally a Sunday school class taught for many years by Pearl Perry, who was our advisor and “moving spirit” until her death on January 2, 1979.
In the past Bykota's main function was to serve Wedding, Anniversary and birthday receptions for our church members. We now perform as a social caring working guild for the good of the church. We give an annual monetary pledge to the church, provide The Upper Room magazine to three nursing homes and provide a Christmas offering to the Salvation Army. Our fundraisers are auction sales among our members and we work at the Lions Club food booth at the Boone County Fair.
Our meetings are held on the second Monday or each month from April to December. Meetings are held in the Perry Room of the church at 7:00pm, unless otherwise announced. Our meetings consist of business, devotions, programs and refreshments. Bykota annual dues are $2.00. Membership is open to any women who wish to join.
